Janmashtami was celebrated at Shree Swaminarayan Temple Secaucus on Saturday, September 9th, 2023.

Janmashtami is significant in the Swaminarayan Faith as it marks the manifestation day of Sadguru Shree Ramamand Swami – the Lord’s own Guru. Shree Ramanand Swami was sent by the Lord to create the platform of the Satsang and to announce the forthcoming arrival of the supreme Lord Shree Swaminarayan. The day’s importance is amplified as it was also the day in Samvat 1976 when Jeevanpran Abji Bapashree established the Satsang Mahasabha to protect the faith and its assets.

At Secaucus Temple, Sants who continued their vicharan across the United States joined disciples to celebrate Janmasthami. Shree Hari Krishna Maharaj was seated on a golden cradle and gently swung to the accompaniment of jubilant singing of kirtans to form the Janmashtami Utsav. The event also served as a farewell to the divine sants, who have traveled for 6 months throughout North America, as they were set to return to Maninagar on Thursday, September 14th, 2023. Following utsav and the farewell, disciples performed darshan of the aarti and thaal offered to Lord Swaminarayan.

The hundreds of disciples and guests who visited the Temple on this holy day were offered maha prasad at the conclusion of the event.
