On April 15th, 2023, Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band USA joined over a hundred other bands in celebrating Scottish heritage in the United States of America during the 25th NYC Tartan Day Parade. In 1998, the U.S. Senate officially recognized the “outstanding achievements and contributions made by Scottish Americans to the United States” by marking April 6th as National Tartan Day. The NYC Tartan Day Parade plays an integral role in celebrating National Tartan Day as thousands of bagpipers, highland dancers, and scottish clans flood the streets of 6th Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) in New York City. 

Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band USA was excited to participate in this celebration and display the blend of Scottish - Indian culture in our band. Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band USA also had the chance to meet Hon Angus Robertson, who is actively serving as the Cabinet Secretary for the Constitution, External Affairs and Culture for the Scottish Government. He shared his words of encouragement for the band and his amazement for what we have been able to accomplish as a pipe band coming from an Indian background.
