In the last few months, terrible natural disasters have struck our globe. Maninagar Shree Swaminaryan Gadi Sansthan was ready to respond with relief efforts, inspired by His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj. The North America Community Service Initiative is an ongoing multi-national charity effort that commenced in May 2017, in honor of Acharya Swamishree’s auspicious 75th Manifestation Day. Mandals across North America gathered supplies and funds to donate to areas in need, in particular, to those devastated by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.

Shree Swaminarayan Temple – Secaucus, New Jersey partnered with MedShare International, a fellow 501C(3), nonprofit organization committed humanitarian aid, focused on improving healthcare and the environment, though the recovery and redistribution of surplus medical supplies and equipment to those most in need. MedShare boasts 4/4 Stars from CharityNavigator and a Gold Star from GuideStar, in addition to many other international accolades.

Hundreds of pounds of supplies were gathered, worth over $5,000 USD, including, diapers, medical supplies, toiletries, products for children and senior citizens, as well as many other hurricane relief items. In addition, a monetary donation was made to MedShare International, on behalf of all mandals of North America.

Mr. James White, Northeast Regional Director of Operations of MedShare International, and his team stopped by Secaucus Temple to accept the donations. He kindly shared, “We want to express our sincere gratitude for your temple’s donation drive and cash donation. We were personally very touched by the generosity and caring of the temple members. Your outreach to MedShare is very special to us here at the MedShare Secaucus site.  The volunteer sessions and then this supply drive and cash donation have created a very special relationship.”

Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan North America looks forward to continuing this long-term partnership with MedShare International to continue serving the international community through charity.
