With the divine blessings and inspiration from Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj, on Sunday, November 12, 2017, Shree Swaminarayan Temple – Secaucus, New Jersey of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, in partnership with the Indian Health Camp of New Jersey (IHCNJ), hosted its thirteenth annual free health screening and disease prevention camp, serving over two hundred underinsured and uninsured South Asians of the Tri-State Area.
 
Registered participants received the following health services, all at no cost:

  • Complete Blood Workup (Complete Blood Count and Metabolic Panel)
  • EKGs/Cardiac Evaluations
  • Dental Checkups
  • Vision Screenings
  • Physical Therapy
  • Pharmaceutical Counseling
  • Flu Shots
  • HIV Testing
  • Glucose/BP/Cholesterol Screenings
  • Diabetes Checkups
  • Breast, Cervical, and Colo-rectal/Prostate Cancer Screenings

 
Over one hundred health professionals and assistants, from IHCNJ and the temple, all volunteered their time to give back to the community. In addition, the temple and IHCNJ also partnered with the following community health organizations to provide education and counseling to the patients: United Health- Medicare and Medicaid, Rite Aid Pharmacy, Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center, Rutgers University SATHI- South Asian Total Health Initiative, CarePoint Health, Hoboken Family Practice, New Jersey Commission for the Blind, NJ BEST, New Jersey Organ and Tissue Sharing Network, and NJ CEED. Accurate Diagnostic Labs provided the complimentary blood test services. The temple also provided complimentary breakfast and lunch to all the patients and volunteers.
 
Secaucus Mayor, Mr. Michael Gonnelli, visited the health camp and met with patients and volunteers. He praised the organizers and temple members for their service to the community.
 
The thirteen-year partnership between the Indian Health Camp of New Jersey and Shree Swaminarayan Temple – Secaucus, New Jersey, has allowed for thousands of uninsured patients of the Tri-State Area to receive health screenings and medical education. This health camp is yet another example of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan’s commitment to improving all aspects of physical, emotional, and spiritual health to people across the globe.
