Chaitra Sud 9, referred to as Shree Swaminarayan Jayanti, is the day that Lord Swaminarayan appeared on the Earth, at the home of Shree Dharmadev and Bhaktimata, in a small village in Northern India called Chhapaiya.

Exactly 232 years after that auspicious event, Lord Swaminarayan’s manifestation was celebrated throughout the world in all the temples of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan. Shree Swaminarayan Temple Los Angeles celebrated Swaminarayan Jayanti on Saturday 20 April 2013.

Disciples congregated in the Temple at the exact time of the Lord’s manifestation and celebrated as the divine Murti of Lord Shree Swaminarayan was seated in a decorated cradle. The prasad traditionally distributed on this day - panchajiri, made from five main ingredients (panch meaning five) - ground coriander seeds, dill seeds, jaggery, coconut and fennel seeds, all held together with ghee - was given to all the disciples.
