On 12th October 2005, His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree travelled to Delhi with a large group of sants to perform the annual rituals of the grand adoration ceremony.
Jeevanpran Swamibapa performed the Murti Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa on Dussera, Vijya Dashmi Samvat 2034, Wednesday 11th October 1978.
The day of Dussera falls on the tenth day of the bright half of the month of Aso. This day is also known as Vijya Dashmi.
In Hinduism, this day is celebrated as the day of victory to rejoice about the deity Durga's triumph over the demon Mahishasura. Dussera also celebrates the homecoming of Lord Ram, the hero of the epic Ramayan, after his victory over the demon king of Lanka, Ravan. Dussera is also reminiscent of the end of the exile and banishment of the Pandav princes in the epic Mahabharat and their return to reclaim their kingdom. Vijya Dashmi is also the day of Saraswati, the deity of knowledge and learning. Children will begin their school education or their career planning on this day. They will seek blessings for excelling in their education on this day. For many Hindus, Dussera is one of the most auspicious days of the year.
It is only appropriate that Jeevanpran Swamibapa performed the Murti Pratishtha ceremony at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Delhi on Dussera, the day that depicts the victory of good over evil.
This year, Vijya Dashmi fell on Wednesday 12th October. His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree travelled to Delhi with a large group of sants to perform the annual rituals of this grand adoration ceremony.
During the preceding evening, a special performance of devotional songs was given by sants and disciples.
