In February 2009, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj performed the grand opening of Surat Mandir. The grand Mandir of Surat is situated on a large site on the main, Surat-Kamraj highway into Surat, near the Sarthana Jakatnaka. To celebrate its 8th patotsav, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj travelled to the city on Saturday 11 February 2017.
Surat is one of the most affluent areas of Gujarat. It is the second largest city in Gujarat and the ninth largest in India, having a population of approximately 4 million people. This port city lies on the left bank of the River Tapi, 14 miles from its mouth. It is famous for its textile and diamond businesses. It is known as the ‘Diamond Capitol of the World’ because the skilled workers of Surat are reputed to cut and polish over 90% of the world's diamonds.
As part of the year long Amrut Sadbhav Parva dedicated to Acharya Swamishree Maharaj, the disciples of Surat held a mass mahapooja ceremony on Tuesday 14 February 2017. During the evening, the young disciples of the city held an event of games, yoga and play to please Acharya Swamishree Maharaj.
The following morning, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj performed the patotsav ceremony and a grand annakut was offered to the Lord.
