An evening of devotional singing and dance performances was held in the divine presence of His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree.
On Wednesday 14th September 2005, an evening of devotional singing and dance performances was held in the divine presence of His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree. Members of Parliament and numerous other eminent guests also came for the blessings of Acharya Swamishree, and to partake in the festivities. On this auspicious evening, Acharya Swamishree presented a cheque for £20,000, which had been collected during a sponsored walk by members of the congregation, to the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.

The event commenced with students of the Temple’s Tabla and Harmonium School receiving certificates to mark their achievements in external musical examinations. The evening’s itinerary included musical and singing performances from the Sants of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, and members of the Temple’s Tabla and Harmonium School, as well as from Shree Mukta Orchestra, and dance performances from young members of the congregation.
All the guests expressed their delight at having been invited to this unique evening of cultural dance and music. Pandit Sharda Sahai expressed his delight that Acharya Swamishree has inspired so many young people to learn the disciplines of traditional dance and music, thus keeping alive and spreading the unique cultures of India. Mr Thomas Hugh-Hallett commended Acharya Swamishree for highlighting the importance of social issues such as cancer, and was further delighted to learn about some of Acharya Swamishree’s recent similar campaigns such as blood donation and organ donor registration – all traditionally taboo subjects amongst Indian communities.
Having witnessed first hand the breadth and depth of Acharya Swamishree’s social, cultural and spiritual interests, the visiting parliamentary guests all pledged their comprehensive support for the Temple and its future activities. They applauded the selfless efforts of Acharya Swamishree an urged Him to continue with His invaluable work.
Acharya Swamishree honoured the visiting dignitaries with pasanta paaghs, shawls, flower garlands and momentos of the evening.
