Ashadh Sud Poonam, is celebrated as Gurupurnima, the auspicious day when disciples go to their guru and pay respects and homage. This year, the special day fell on Tuesday 19 July 2016. It has been 19 years since Acharya Swamishree Maharaj had last been in Maninagar on this festival day as usually he is touring in the USA or UK during this period. Therefore, the delight of the Sants and disciples was extraordinary.
After performing the shangar aarti of the Lord, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj inaugurated the invitation booklet for the forthcoming Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Smruti Mandir Rajat Mahotsav.
Led by Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band Maninagar, Gurudev Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree Maharaj went from the Mandir to the Auditorium where the special assembly was held.
Acharya Swamishree Maharaj performed poojan to Gurudev Swamibapa and disciples performed aarti.
In his divine blessings, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj explained, “He who enlightens the ignorant, i.e. shines light to those in darkness, is called a Guru. It is only Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa who can truly enlighten ignorant souls to the supreme bliss of eternal happiness, the endless peace of the supreme Lord. Thus our supreme Guru can only be Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa. Jeevanpran Swamibapa says, "Guru veenaa gnaan nahi." Without a Guru, knowledge cannot be attained. Lord Swaminarayan showed the importance of a Guru in one’s life by taking Shree Ramanand Swami as His Guru. We, at Shree Swaminarayan Gadi, are truly fortunate to have attained the supreme Guru who is guiding us all to Him.”
