In 2009, Acharya Swamishree blessed the disciples of Surat by opening a grand temple in the gateway to Surat, Sarthana.
Surat is one of the most affluent areas of Gujarat and the second largest city in the state. It is the ninth largest city in India, and is famous for its textile and diamond businesses. It is known as the ‘Diamond Capital of the World’ because the skilled workers of Surat are reputed to cut and polish over 90% of the world's diamonds.
In celebration of the third anniversary of the temple inauguration, Acharya Swamishree travelled to Surat and performed the patotsav ceremony, which took place on Sunday 12 February 2012.
During the night of Saturday 11 February, young disciples of Surat performed devotional and patriotic dances. On Sunday 12 February, in the presence of sants and disciples from all over the region, Acharya Swamishree performed the patotsav ceremony and raised new flags on the grand spires of the magnificent temple. Annakut thaal was offered to the Lord, and aarti was performed by disciples.
