Inspirator: His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj
Jeevanpran Swamibapa Jayanti

Friday 18 September 2009, Swamibapa Jayanti, was celebrated with appropriate grandeur at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Maninagar, in the divine presence of Acharya Swamishree.

After performing the Shanghar aarti of Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj, Shree Harikrishna Maharaj, Shree Sahajanand Swami Maharaj, Jeevanpran Bapashree and Jeevanpran Swamibapa, Acharya Swamishree departed from the Mandir and went to Shree Swaminarayan Tower, where He performed the Patotsav ceremony of Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa who magnificently presides in the Tower.

A grand procession was then held in honour of Jeevanpran Swamibapa. During the procession, disciples carried gifts to offer to the Lord. Jeevanpran Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree sat on a grand chariot. The procession reached Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Maninagar at 9.30 am. The Shahi Swagat Ceremony was performed before Jeevanpran Swamibapa, during which gifts were offered at His lotus feet. Swamibapa was adorned in beautiful flower garments and Acharya Swamishree placed a flower moogat upon His head. The ceremonial tula ceremony was also performed.

On this occasion, guest of honour was the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax in Ahmedabad, Honourable Shree Y K Ghia. He expressed his delight for being present on such an auspicious occasion.

In the presence of the chief guest, Acharya Swamishree presented awards to students of the Swaminarayan High School who have excelled in their studies and extracurricular sporting activities.

In His divine blessings, Acharya Swamishree described the spiritual love that a disciple should have for God; the extent of a person’s thoughts and desires that are unrelated to God reflect the deficiency in his love for God.

Acharya Swamishree described the qualities of a disciple, as stated in GFS 44 of the Vachanamrut, ‘a disciple who has a perfect love for God will become extremely disturbed if any idea, except for the Murti of God, enters his mind, whether consciously or unconsciously. He would experience as much anxiety as he would if, whilst he was eating a delicious meal, someone came and threw a handful of pebbles and dust into the food, or if someone stamped a red-hot iron bar onto his forehead. Someone who possesses such feelings can be said to have perfect love for God.’ Acharya Swamishree said that we should all now look into our own hearts and examine just how much love we have for God.

After the divine blessings, disciples performed aarti to Jeevanpran Swamibapa. Prasad was then distributed to all.

The entire celebrations were broadcast live over the internet.
