A memorial, in the form of a black marble platform marks the spot of Mahatma Gandhiji's cremation on 31 January 1948. A flame, fuelled with ghee, burns continuously at one end. It is surrounded by lawns and footpaths, and is situated on the banks of the River Jamuna in Delhi. This monument is called the Raj Ghat, meaning the Imperial Court. The words ‘He Ram’, meaning Oh Ram (Oh God), are inscribed on the marble platform, as these are said to be Mahatma Gandhiji’s last words.

To mark Mahatma Gandhiji’s 140th birthday, Acharya Swamishree visited the Raj Ghat to pay homage to the father of modern India, on 26th September 2009. Acharya Swamishree seated Shree Harikrishna Maharaj on the platform. Recital of sacred verses and prayers were held for the continued development and advancement of India. Acharya Swamishree and the sants prayed for unity within India, and peace and prosperity amongst all the people of the Nation.
