Inspirator: His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj
Supreme Lord Shree Swaminarayan - Pragatya Jayanti

The ancient Hindu scriptures forecasted the manifestation of the supreme Lord. They stated that the almighty Lord would manifest upon the Earth in the age of Kaliyug in order to provide the path of final liberation to those souls who sincerely seek redemption from the endless cycle of birth and death.

When the Lord appears on the Earth, He appears to be the same as other humans. He conceals His greatness in order to bestow His divine affection to His devotees. He takes the form of a disciple’s son, companion, friend, or relative. As a result of this relationship, the disciples can experience a close intimacy with Him; and in this manner, the barrier between the Lord and the disciples can be eliminated. In this manner, the Lord grants His infinite bliss to the disciple in accordance with the individual's spiritual desires.

The date chosen for the supreme Lord Shree Swaminarayan to appear on the Earth, at the home of Bhaktidevi and Dharmadev, in the village of Chhapaiya in Northern India, was Samvat 1837 Chaitra Sud 9 (Monday 2nd April 1781).

The 226th anniversary of this auspicious day was Tuesday 27 March 2007. Just after 10 pm, Acharya Swamishree performed the Lord’s Pragatya (manifestation) aarti in Shree Swaminarayan Mandir, Maninagar.

Shree Harikrishna Maharaj was seated in an ornamental swing and gently swayed to the accompaniment of the music and singing of devotional songs performed by the sants and disciples gathered on this special day.

The Pragatya Day celebrated in all the Swaminarayan Temples around the world. A twenty-four hour long continuous chanting (dhoon) was held at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Maninagar, in the divine presence of Acharya Swamishree. Continuous chanting was also held in all the other temples.
