Divya Shakotsav Celebrations - Nairobi

A Bhavya divine shakotsav was organized on Saturday, 4 th February 2023. The celebrations kicked off with Sandhya Aarti niyams, Utsav, speech, nrutya, kirtan bhakti, arti, mahamantra dhoon and finally the mahaprasad. Hundreds of devotees took part in this grand celebration.

A masterclass artistically designed stage was put up depicting the original Indian culture with traditional regalia pinned up on the walls. The scene reminded devotees of their century old Indian villages and households. With ox cart, cows and oxen in the courtyard and soothing cool floors smeared with pure cow dung while Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa majestically seated on a swing at the centre of the stage. 

Lord Shree Swaminarayan was carried shoulder high, seated on a palanquin while devotees performed utsav as the procession marched from the temple to the stage where the programme was hosted. Young devotees performed an Indian traditional dance while others elaborated the origin and importance of shakotsav. Young devotees being born and brought up in the African also performed a magnificent dance dressed in African costumes while others pleased Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa with Kirtans composed by Premanand Swami during the Shakotsav Mahotsav celebrated about 200 years ago in Loya Dham.

Lighting, decorations, kitchen, dance and music departments whole heartedly performed their part to make this a successful event. Delicious mahaprasad of Millet and maize chapaties, shaak, ladoos, rice, khichdi, chhaas, fruit juice and ice cream was served to all the attendees. Everyone dispersed with sweet memories of this grand shakotsav.
