Sharad Poonam
Sharad Poornima is a harvest festival celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu Lunar month of Ashwin, marking the end of the monsoon season. It is also believed that on this auspicious day as the moon and the earth are very close to each other, the moon rays have certain healing properties of nourishing the body and the soul.
Hence, to receive more of the healing properties from the moon rays, bowls, spoons, plates and glasses made out of stainless steel were assembled in a beautiful exhibit around Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa at Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan – Shree Swaminarayan Siddhant Sajivan Mandal – Nairobi.
The event was commenced by Sandhya Aarti Niyams and Kirtan Bhakti. Thereafter to scripture recitals followed by raas which was played by devotees. Later mahaprasad was served to all.
Acharya Shree Jitendriyapriyadasji Swamiji Maharaj is the current spiritual leader of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan. He is the heir to Acharya Shree Purushottampriyadasji Swamishree Maharaj, and sixth in the lineage of ascetic Acharyas, which descends directly from Lord Shree Swaminarayan.
