Gurupurnima Celebrations in Nairobi
Ashad sud poonam is the auspicious Gurupoonam, one of the 3 main annual festivals of the Swaminarayan sampradaya. The festival is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June–July) of the Shaka Samvat. This day marks the first peak of the lunar cycle after the peak of the solar cycle.
On the 19 th of July, 2016, devotees gathered in Nairobi to celebrate this annual festival and adorn their Guru, Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa with devotion and gratitude.
The celebrations commenced at 6pm with Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa’s divine discourses followed by Sandhya Arti Niyams. Thereafter Acharya Swamishree’s letter was read. Devotees then performed poojan archan to Swamibapa and seeked for His blessings.
Acharya Shree Jitendriyapriyadasji Swamiji Maharaj is the current spiritual leader of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan. He is the heir to Acharya Shree Purushottampriyadasji Swamishree Maharaj, and sixth in the lineage of ascetic Acharyas, which descends directly from Lord Shree Swaminarayan.
