Kirtan bhakti is one of the forms of devotion to please the Lord. It is said that when a devotee sings a kirtan with true devotion, The Lord will join in and give encouragement to His child. True happiness can be achieved by the mere utterance of such devotional poetry. Jeevanpran Swamibapa possessed incredible talent in music and poetry. He had mastered the art of playing the Sitar, Clarinet, Tabla and Harmonium. He composed over a hundred kirtans and gave His devotees a gift in form of a collection entitled “Harignanamrut Kavya”.
With the divine inspiration of HDH Acharya Swamishree and guidance from the saints, young boys and girls participated in Kirtan Sandhya Nite on 23rd December 2008. Teachers from Swamibapa Education Centre Music Classes trained the students for over six months. To train the young boys and girls to sing in solo and in chorus in harmony with the beat of drums, synthesizer and harmonium was indeed a very difficult task, but by the grace of Lord Swaminarayan, it eventually turned out to be a super hit Kirtan Sandhya Nite.
A total of 70 young boys and girls aged between 6 – 16 years took part in this melodious Nite. The groups were divided into age groups of 6- 11 years and 12 – 16 years for boys and girls. A total of 14 different kirtans composed by Lord Swaminarayan’s Nand padvi saints, Jeevanpran Swamibapa, and His own saints and disciples were sung during this tuneful extravaganza Nite. Hundreds of devotees listened to and applaused the young but budding and immensely talented stage performers. Acharya Swamishree blessed all the participants with fruit prasad.
