Charitable Event - 16th January 2012
Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan under the guidance of Acharya Swamishree puts great emphasis on the teachings of Lord Swaminarayan, i.e. treating each and every being as equal in the eyes of the Lord and assisting the less fortunate in the society.
During His visit to Nairobi, Kenya, a charitable event was hosted on 16th January 2012 by Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, Shree Swaminarayan Temple Nairobi. This noble cause was graced by the presence of His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree and the Hon. Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, the Vice President of Kenya as the chief guest of the occassion.
The chief guest was heartily welcomed by HH Swamibapa Pipe Band and led him to the sihashan and gave him a guard of honour. In his speech, he asked for HDH Acharya Swamishree to bless and guide him in serving the citizens of Kenya. He was overwhelmed to learn that apart from the religious activities, Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan was involved in uplifting the spirits of less fortunate and physically challenged members of the society.
A handsome amount (Ksh550,000.00) was donated to two charitable organizations which are involved in the caring of physically challenged children in Kenya :-
HDH Acharya Swamishree and Hon. Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka jointly presented the cheques to the chairman of each of the charitable organizations on behalf of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, Shree Swaminarayan Temple Nairobi.
Each of the distinguished guests was honoured and presented with Smruti Mandir memento, golden bracelet, shawl and prasad packet.
For the first time ever, HDH Acharya Swamishree showered His divine blessings to the multi-cultured congregation in five different languages – English, Kiswahili, Hindi, Sanskrit and Gujarati. He said that in the eyes of The Lord everyone is equal. We are all brothers and sisters. In a society, one should help each other without any discrimination.
The event was witnessed by hundreds of devotees, board members from respective charities, prominent business personalities, physically challenged school kids, teachers and many other well wishers.
Young devotees performed a spectacular acrobatic chair dance to mark the closing ceremony of this worthy event. The guests were stunned by the performance of the young devotees and applauded with great joy.
