The main objective of the marathon is to raise funds for the needy in the community, that is, "Seeing is Believing" community initiative.
The marathon has been creatively modeled into different categories to suit all. From the grueling full and half marathon that call for extreme courage and endurance, to the 10km, the wheelchair race and the family fun run, the Nairobi marathon has something for everyone.
By participating in the Nairobi Marathon one makes it possible to raise money to support the eradication of avoidable blindness in Kenya.
This year, a team of 104 participants from Swamibapa Temple, Nairobi, joined in various categories of the race. The event gave an opportunity for team building skills among the devotees and serving the needy, as everyone ran as a team under the name "SSSS MANDAL, NAIROBI". The team had a group photo in the temple after Mangla Aarti before boarding the buses which drove them to the starting point of the race at Nyayo Stadium.
