Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury held its first ever Summer Fair on Sunday 9th July 2023 which saw over seventeen hundred people from the Mandir and local community attend. Many counsellors from the Boroughs of Brent, Barnet and Harrow also attended to play their part in this magnificent charitable drive along with Mayors of Brent, Barnet and the Deputy Mayor of Harrow.
The Summer Fair was organised with the aim to bring the community together and make a positive impact on lives. It created a wonderful opportunity to foster unity, cultural exchange, and support incredible causes through fundraising initiatives.
The event featured a wide range of exciting games and activities suitable for all age groups from bouncy castles, bumper cars and trampolines to face painting and henna stalls. The crowd also had the opportunity to be entertained by Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band and performances from the students of Swamibapa Dance Academy. The performances left all mesmerised; a truly colourful, melodious and cultural event topped off with an array of Indian street food and beverages.
At the heart of this lively and joyous event was the sole purpose of raising funds for incredible causes. Over £15,000 was raised from this Summer Fair which was sponsored by over 30 local businesses. All the funds raised will contribute towards the Mandir’s vital charitable causes for the London community including food drives for the homeless and gift donations to local hospitals and hospices.
Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury has a proud history of supporting a range of local, national and international charitable and community activities. These endeavours stem from the time of Lord Shree Swaminarayan Himself, and continue to be inspired by Ved Ratna Acharya Swamishree Maharaj who encouraged His disciples around the world to continuously put "Society before self". The devotion of time, effort and donation continues through the inspiration of Gnan Mahodadhi Acharya Swamiji Maharaj.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to all the sponsors, volunteers, performers and attendees for making this event successful and fun for all.
