Having recently returned from wowing crowds at the Carnival of Nice, Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band London were amongst the leading performers during the International Carnival in Yasmine Hammamet, Tunisia from 17 – 20 March. 

The 8th edition of ‘Le Carnaval International de Yasmine Hammamet’ welcomed 320 artists from 8 different countries to perform alongside 330 local Tunisian artists. The acts ranged from drum bands and brass bands to majorettes and flag-wavers. Among the performers were 19 members of Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band London, who impressed the spectators with their diverse mix of traditional Scottish, Indian, and modern pop music. They were praised on their impeccable Scottish attire, their uniformity and their strong discipline throughout the carnival. 

Tarun Patel, aged 26 said:

‘This is the first time I have experienced being at such a sensational carnival and I can say that I had an amazing time watching and playing alongside so many amazing performers who have come together from all over the globe to put on an great show. The colourful costumes, spectacular dances, and outstanding musical performances, all contributed to the electric atmosphere, making this carnival an unforgettable event.’

With over 40,000 spectators, this 8th edition of the carnival provided a unique opportunity to the Band members who spent the days in Tunisia not only performing, but adhering to our daily niyams and holding dharmic sabhas to discuss important aspects of our faith.
