On a cold and frosty December day, Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Academy of Sport held a 15-hour sports marathon.
The event was held at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir’s very own state of the art sports hall – Purushottam Mahal. Its versatility on full show from the range of sports that it housed during this event.
Over 200 people ranging from the age of 5 to 75 participated in numerous sporting activities that included Football, Cricket, Yoga, Badminton, Volleyball as well as various fitness and wellbeing sessions.
Unfortunately, due the icy conditions the endurance walk was cancelled, but will be scheduled at a later date.
Everyone, new to a sport or veteran players, thoroughly enjoyed the day.
By the encouragement of Acharya Shree Jitendriyapriya Swamiji Maharaj, these kinds of events, as well as the Mandir’s regular sports activities, enables the community to keep physically active and fit, as well as develop values such as teamwork and fair play through the medium of sport.
Acharya Shree Jitendriyapriyadasji Swamiji Maharaj is the current spiritual leader of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan. He is the heir to Acharya Shree Purushottampriyadasji Swamishree Maharaj, and sixth in the lineage of ascetic Acharyas, which descends directly from Lord Shree Swaminarayan.
