Father's Day Celebrations

Disciples at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury had the fortuitous honour and joy of celebrating Father’s Day 2022 in the divine presence of Acharya Swamiji Maharaj. While this occasion was originally meant to be hosted by Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Bolton, Acharya Swamiji Maharaj’s international tour schedule meant that the disciples in London had the unexpected opportunity to host.

That said, our Bolton family became a full part of the event at Kingsbury Mandir, with many making their way south to take part. Indeed, it was the event sponsor’s explicit desire to see this event as a UK event – bringing together both Mandals to mark this event.

From a worldly perspective, Father’s Day is about honouring all of the special male role models in our life, and it’s a day that so many get a massive amount of joy from doing so. So for the disciples of the Lord, what better way to mark this occasion than by honouring our true Father, Lord Shree Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa – all presided over by Acharya Swamiji Maharaj.

The Father’s Day event commenced inside Mandir, where Sants and disciples took the opportunity to honour Gurudev Jeevanpran Swamibapa, Ved Ratna Acharya Swamishree Maharaj and Acharya Swamiji Maharaj. Sants performed Kirtan Bhakti and offered flowers to Bapa as a token of their appreciation, while disciples had the opportunity to perform Aarti. The youngest disciples also sang a beautiful Kirtan to the Lord. Events then moved outside – to the Mandir Courtyard and Purushottam Mahal, where everyone took part in various fun, games and quizzes. The format was very much that of the Jeevan Ghadtar Satsang Shibir, where such activities are used to convey knowledge, skills and camaraderie. Sants also took part in some of the activities, building bonds with our youth and imbibing them with the values of our Sanstha.

A food court was set up for all to enjoy a variety of dishes, and bouncy castles, soft play and balls pits kept the youngest entertained. The warm weather made for a perfect day, and by the grace of the Lord, it only started raining as the morning’s events drew to a close.

A special sabha was held in the evening during which Sants addressed questions submitted by young members, specifically on aspects in the Shree Swaminarayan Gadi scripture. Acharya Swamiji Maharaj has inspired His disciples around the world to recite this scripture as many times as possible in the lead up to Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Suvarna Mahotsav. With Sants available in person in London to answer such questions, this was a unique opportunity for readers to seek any points of clarification, enhance their understanding, and gain further appreciation of the glory of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi.
