Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury hosted the community’s 32nd blood donation session on Sunday 22nd November 2020. 108 units were collected during the session, bringing the grand total of units collected by sessions held by the Mandir to an astounding 3144.
This session marked the official end of the Mandir’s Diwali and Hindu New Year celebrations, and along with a food collection that was donated to the SUFRA NW London food bank, forms part of the charitable aspects of the festival. Acharya Swamishree Maharaj inspires us that, “Dedicating one's life to the service of others is the truest celebration of a festival”.
Despite the current restrictions within the community and wider society, the Mandir has continued to hold blood donation session throughout this period as a matter of priority. This is in support of the fact that continuing to give blood is even more essential during the Coronavirus pandemic, where people may be less inclined to donate blood, according to the World Health Organisation.
The next session at the Mandir takes place on Sunday 21 March 2021 – visit www.blood.co.uk to book your appointment.
