A tradition at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury is that the young boys and girls of Swamibapa Gujarati School put on special assemblies around the time of the Sanstha’s major celebratory events – the latest in this series was all about Shree Swaminarayan Jayanti, the anniversary of the Lord Shree Swaminarayan’s manifestation.

A group of boys and girls held a questions and answers session, discussing the divine childhood episodes of the Lord and key facts about His arrival onto this Earth. The finale to the assembly was a delightful dance performance by young girls – they entertained and wowed the audience with the energetic dance as the rest of the students sang the kirtan, “Dhanya Bani Jai”.

These assemblies do not only educate the youngest in our community – as well as the wider congregation – about the glory of the Lord and our Sanstha, but they help youngsters to grow in confidence and develop their public speaking, research and teamwork skills; all things that will stand them in good stead as they mature.
