Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury held its first open day since moving from its previous residence in Golders Green. The day was organised by members of the community and included activities for all the family. There was a great fairground atmosphere in Purshottam Mahal as people tried their luck with knocking down the tins, testing their strength and playing their cards right.
Alongside this, parents helped their children, make badges, hook the duck and accompanied them to the very popular ‘All About Anna’s Animals’ pet and play area where they got to learn about, hold and stroke various animals. There were tarantulas, snakes and for the less adventurous a cute and cuddly rabbit.
The Open Day also coincided with a visit from a mobile unit from Silver Star UK, a charity working in partnership with Brent Council that is campaigning for Diabetes awareness. Members of the community young and old had an opportunity to be tested and were given important advice on how to live a healthy life.
Just before lunch was served, Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Sports Academy tournament finals in pool, darts and table tennis were played and the 2016 winners were crowned. The day culminated in the much anticipated grand raffle, where the top prize was £250 of a flight with AJ Tours and Travel.
Thank you to the organisers, sponsors, volunteers, caterers and participants for making the event a huge success.
