Valentine’s Day is an occasion to celebrate the bond between those who are the beloved to us. The community at Shree Swaminarayan Kingsbury, like sister Mandirs around the world, mark the occasion by celebrating their love for the most beloved of all – Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree Maharaj.
Worldly love and relationships are intrinsically temporary, and ultimately come to an end. The love between the Lord and His disciples, however, is everlasting and eternal; it is the purest form of love. The love between young children and the Lord is superior still, as it is full of innocence, enthusiasm, generosity, and is completely unselfish.
The young students of Swamibapa Gujarati Classes celebrated the first Valentine’s Day at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury with a special show of loving devotion. Through a series of speeches and kirtans, they explained the nature of their love for the Lord. The evening’s set-piece performance was conducted in sign language – showing that such love truly has no boundaries and transcends even the five senses.
Acharya Shree Jitendriyapriyadasji Swamiji Maharaj is the current spiritual leader of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan. He is the heir to Acharya Shree Purushottampriyadasji Swamishree Maharaj, and sixth in the lineage of ascetic Acharyas, which descends directly from Lord Shree Swaminarayan.
