Shangar Darshan

Mangla Aarti

Inside the temple devotees gathered from all over the world to have the divine darshan of the Lord during Mangla aarti on Shree Swaminarayan Jayanti.

At precisely 5:30 am, the sinhasan doors opened to reveal the divine mangla darshan of Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa in His gold sinhasan. Everyone present had the darshan of His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree performing aarti.

The Lord gave darshan adorned with His night clothing: a pink cap; pink tunic, blue trousers and shawl.

Shangar Aarti and Ankot Darshan

At 7:50 am the doors opened to reveal the divine darshan of Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj, who was adorned with a colourful diamond-encrusted kirit moogat and red garments that were embroided with gold thread. He had many gold necklaces and garlands covering Him from His neck to His lotus feet. On this auspicious day, annkut was offered, with hundreds of variaties of sweet and savoury dishes.

His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree performed Shangar Aarti. Following the niyams Acharya Swamishree and the sants went for darshan to the Suvarna Tula Smarak Bhavan - Shree Swaminarayan Tower.

He then took His seat on the chariot. Poojan was offered by the devotees on whose behalf the scripture recitals were being held.

The procession started at Shree Swaminarayan Tower. Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band led the procession along Swaminarayan Road and into the sabha mandap.

Divine Morning Ashirwad

His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree's divine ashirwad;

  • Today is Chaitra Sud 9 – the manifestation day of the Lord. In worldly terms, the Lord is 225 years old today. Accepting the services of His disciples, the Lord now bestows His divine darshan from a gold sinhasan.
  • Today is not the Lord’s birthday. Birthdays are for those who are born and eventually die. The Lord has manifested; he never comes or goes.
  • On one occasion, the Lord commanded a mandal of His most eminent sants, headed by Shree Gopalbapa, to go to Agatrai for six months. Amongst the mandal of thirty, were Santdasji, Vyapakanand Swami, Swaroopanand Swami, Krupanand Swami, Gunantitanand Swami, Ramdasbhai and Aatmanand Swami. Ramdasbhai questioned the Lord, “It would be better if you designated someone other than Gopalbapa has the head of this mandal.” Shreejimaharaj replied, “He is My Sankalpa-swaroop and resides within My Murti. That is why he is the head of the Mandal and you all must stay under is command. Do not retain any arrogance about your own seniority.” Such if the supremacy of Gopalbapa and our Parampara.
  • Shree Gopalanand Swami once thought to himself, ‘how does devastation (pralay) occur?’ As soon as he thought this, destruction started to occur all around him. Shreejimaharaj asked him, ‘what was it that you did not have knowledge of?’ Gopalbapa replied, ‘I merely had a thought (sankalpa).’ This is how powerful Gopalbapa thoughts are; he made the impossible, possible.
  • To understand who the Lord truly is, is a very difficult feat. Turning a rosary, wearing a tilak-chandlo and kanthi, performing prostrations or circumambulations, etc., are all futile, without having an understanding about the true nature of God.
  • Only if we understand the true glory of the Lord, can we enjoy the immense that lies in His Murti. For example, if we are sat beside a President, there is no excitement in it unless we recognise who he is; but if we do recognise him, the feeling is completely different. We have the honour of being in the presence of such a supreme Lord – He has placed us beside Him. It constitutes a great flaw, if we do not recognise Him for who He truly is.
Shree Hari Naad-vansh Namaashtak

Acharya Swamishree presented the Naad-vansh Namaashtak at the lotus feet of Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj. These eight verses (ashtak), composed by Acharya Swamishree, magnificently describe the glory of Lord Shree Swaminarayan's supreme, divine heritage - our Guruparampara. Read More....

Comments of the Day

"In the past the people of cities such as Ahmedabad would have to travel as far as Mumbai, Delhi or Madras to seek medical treatment. With the blessings of Acharya Swamishree I am proud to say that today not only India but Ahmedabad itself is on the world map as a destination with top of the range medical facilities. "
