As part of the ‘One Bolton’ Festival the town’s diverse and unique communities celebrated the Spirit of Bolton on Saturday June 19. Led by the Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Pipe Band the Mayor of Bolton Councillor John Byrne officially opened the event in Victoria Square whereby organisers including Bolton Inter faith Council, Bolton Christian Community Cohesion, Bolton Council of Mosques and Bolton Hindu Forum with the support of Bolton Council and local community groups.
The Bolton Festival celebrated the positive multicultural image of the town and encouraged people from all backgrounds, beliefs and values to enjoy events and cultural activities such as henna tattoos, face painting, community exhibitions, cooking demonstrations and drama workshops.
Crowds enjoyed entertainment provided by the Black Eagles- a trio of Tanzanian acrobats and the Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Pipe Band who played traditional highland and Indian tunes around Bolton town centre. |
