Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Pipe Band was invited to perform at this year’s
edition of the annual Manchester International Festival and joined the
many bands, performance acts and floats that partook in the festival.
The prelaunch of the event was held at Shree Swaminarayan Temple Bolton on Thursday 2nd July 2009, followed by an evening gala performance at
Manchester Town Hall, attended by many eminent film and music directors and members of the entertainment industry. Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Pipe
Band was the outstanding performance of the night and were specially invited to perform the following day for a live BBC broadcast.
On Friday the 3rd July, the Band accompanied His Divine Holiness to Swamishree to Albert Square for the live broadcast. Here they saluted
Acharya Swamishree who gave darshan in the Square and then performed a series of tunes and formations shown live on BBC TV.
The following day, (Saturday 4th July) Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Pipe Band performed at the Spirit of Bolton event in Bolton Town Centre, and played
a repertoire of tunes for dignitaries including the Mayor of Bolton, and members of the Bolton Hindu Forum, Bolton Council of Mosques and Christian
Community Cohesion organisations.
On Sunday 5th July 2009, the Pipe Band performed at the Manchester International Festival parade. The parade attracts many thousands of
people from all over Greater Manchester and the UK, who come to enjoy the festivities and watch the talented artists of the parade.
