At Shree Swaminarayan Gadi, Janmasthtami is celebrated as the manifestation day of Sadguru Shree Ramanand Swami, who served as the spiritual guide to Lord Shree Swaminarayan. Shree Ramanand Swami was specifically chosen by the Lord to establish the foundation of Satsang and herald the imminent arrival of the supreme Lord Shree Swaminarayan.
Sadguru Shree Ramanand Swami manifested in Samvat 1795 in the sacred city of Ayodhya. However, what makes his appearance extraordinary is that he was not born in the conventional way, instead simply manifested at the residence of his parents, Ajay and Sumati.
On the auspicious day of Janmashtami on 7th September 2023, disciples gathered in Mandir where Lord Shree Swaminarayan was enthroned on a beautifully adorned cradle (palaniyu) and gently swayed while devotional kirtans were joyfully sung during Utsav. Pragatya Aarti followed and thal was offered as part of the rituals. The traditional prasad consists of panchajiri, a sweet mixture made from five ingredients like coriander seeds, cumin, coconut, ghee, and jaggery.
Acharya Shree Jitendriyapriyadasji Swamiji Maharaj is the current spiritual leader of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan. He is the heir to Acharya Shree Purushottampriyadasji Swamishree Maharaj, and sixth in the lineage of ascetic Acharyas, which descends directly from Lord Shree Swaminarayan.
