In the Vikram year 1837, Chaitra Sud 9th, (based on the Vikram Lunar calendar), 2nd April 1781 A.D., Lord Swaminarayan manifested in Chhapaiya, a town in the holy land of Northern India, to dispel evil and superstitious practices, to preach non-violence and universal brotherhood, methods of self-realisation and ultimately to purify the lost souls and reveal to them His supreme abode Akshardham.
On Sunday 14th April 2019, Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Bolton celebrated the 238th anniversary since the supreme Lord Shree Swaminarayan manifested on this Earth. Celebrations took place at the Mandir, which commenced with a one-hour dhoon - ceremonial chanting of His divine name before the Lord's arrival - throughout which the Lord gave His divine darshan gently rocking from a golden swing. Disciples sang a variety of hymns accompanied by musical instruments throughout the dhoon to celebrate Lord Shree Swaminarayan's 237th manifestation day.
Devotees were thereafter blessed with the divine Ashirwad of Gurudev Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa. The evening concluded with everyone receiving farar Prasad.
