Chaitra Sud 9, referred to as Shree Hari Jayanti, is one of the most significant days of the year for a disciple of Lord Shree Swaminarayan. This is the day that Lord Shree Swaminarayan appeared on the Earth in a human form, at the home of Shree Dharmadev and Bhaktimata, in a small village in Northern India called Chhapaiya. Wednesday 5th April 2017 marked exactly 236 years since that auspicious event took place.
In celebration, disciples of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi gathered in the temples and celebrated the arrival of the supreme Lord.
The evening’s celebrations included Ashirwad, kirtan bhakti (devotional singing) and an hour-long dhoon – chanting the Lord’s supreme name.
In Maninagar-dhaam, a 24 hour dhoon was held. All this, while the young Lord is gently swung in a cradle. The Lord will give Darshan seated in the cradle for six days. During the evening of each of the six days, disciples will gather at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Bolton.
The Lord will be ceremonially unseated from the cradle on His sixth day – Chathi.
