The Lakes at Windermere are considered a sacred site pilgrimage for the disciples of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi: Jeevanpran Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa held His final sabha on the hill at Lake Windermere, shortly before renouncing His human form.
In commemoration of our beloved Gurudev, His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree and the sant mandal visited Lake Windermere on 21st August 2006. Eagerly awaited by hundreds of disciples from all over the world, Acharya Swamishree arrived in Windermere, as the morning rain cleared to reveal bright sunshine.
Shree Muktajeevan Pipe Band saluted Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree, as Swamibapa’s sants held aloft Acharya Swamishree’s palanquin. The Band led the procession along the waterfront with many tourists and residents of Windermere gathering for Acharya Swamishree’s darshan. Acharya Swamishree, sants and disciples then boarded the three cruisers that had been especially commandeered for this auspicious occasion. It is on this Lake that Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa lovingly embraced Acharya Swamishree – the moment that is captured in the "bhet na murti" that is now commonplace in homes and temples throughout the world.
Following the Lake cruise, the Band led the congregation to the top of the hill besides Lake Windermere; the exact location of Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa's final sabha. Acharya Swamishree and the sants performed poojan and aarti to Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa, before Acharya Swamishree showered His ashirwad on everyone present.
A special commemorative cake was then cut by Acharya Swamishree to celebrate the life of Jeevanpran Swamibapa, and offered to Shree Harikrishna Maharaj. Everyone was then given the opportunity to perform aarti to Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree. The congregation concluded with everyone taking thaar, before Acharya Swamishree and the sant mandal departed for London.
