As part of Shree Swaminarayan Temple Maninagar’s Annual Patotsav Celebrations, a three day medical camp and blood donation camp was held in the High School and Grounds of the Temple, from 17 to 19 February 2007.
This charitable event was organised by three trusts, Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, the P P Yagnik Memorial Nidhi Charitable Trust and the Ahmedabad District Police.
During the opening ceremony on the first day, several senior representatives of the City’s police were present to commend Acharya Swamishree for inspiring this charitable medical camp. These included Shree J Mahapatra, Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad City, Shree Rakesh Asthana, Joint Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad City, Shree D. R. Patel, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad City, and Shree B. D. Soini, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad City.
Various different health specialists, including cardiologists, neuro-physicians, gastroenterologists, paediatric-surgeons, neuro-surgeons, uro-surgeons, nephrologists, general physicians, general surgeons, skin specialists, eye specialists, paediatricians, ENT-surgeons, orthopaedic-surgeons, psychiatrists, gynaecologists, dental-surgeons, radiologists, pathologists and various other medical officers were present to give free medical check-ups and diagnostic screening.
Approximately 700 patients were given medical aid during this 3 day camp. Many people, including the sants, donated blood at the mobile blood unit that was present in the Temple grounds.
In this manner, Acharya Swamishree is actively promoting charitable events and aims to highlight issues of social importance, by holding regular health awareness seminars and activities. Acharya Swamishree is championing many such campaigns, especially to alleviate misconceptions about such issues from amongst the Asian community.
