Inspirator: His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj
Food and Clothing Distribution in Nandubar

The district of Nandubar in Maharashtra is one of the poorest regions of India. It is located where the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra meet. This region is known as the Land of Tribals. The tribal people, known as Adivasis, or Vanvasis are said to be the original tribes who lived in India before the arrival of the Aryans. Even today, a number of tribes live in the forests and the hilly regions. They are considered the original inhabitants of India and are mentioned in the epic scriptures, the Ramayan and the Mahabharat.

On 5th January 2005, Acharya Swamishree sent his sants from Shree Swaminarayan Temple Mumbai to this tribal region in order to distribute much needed food and clothing. Much of the region cannot be accessed by motor vehicles, so the sants walked between 5 and 7 km to reach some of the villages.

The MP of the region, Shree Padmakar Vadvi heard about this humanitarian initiative and came to give support to the sants. He accompanied the sants into the jungles and helped distribute the aid. He was very appreciative of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan’s charitable work and commended Acharya Swamishree for providing the inspiration for these projects.
