During the early hours of 4th December 2004, His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree and His sants departed from Nairobi and visited Uganda.

The loving devotees of Uganda gathered at Entebbe Airport to welcome Acharya Swamishree to the country.

During His short visit to the country, Acharya Swamishree visited the homes and workplaces of the devotees. Accepting their humble requests, Acharya Swamishree also travelled to Lake Victoria, River Nile and Parla Lodge.

On 5th December, Acharya Swamishree presided over the Holy Scripture recital of Bapashree ni Vato. On this occasion, 122 recitals of this divine scripture were performed. March 2005 will mark the 50th anniversary of when Jeevanpran Swamibapa installed the divine Murtis of Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj, Shree Harikrishna Maharaj and Shree Sahajanand Swami Maharaj in the newly built grand Shikhar Bandh Mandir in Maninagar. Fifty scripture recitals were held in celebration of that event. In addition, this March will mark the 25th anniversary of when His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree installed the divine Murtis of Jeevanpran Bapashree and Jeevanpran Swamibapa in Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Maninagar. In celebration of this event, 25 scripture recitals were held. During this visit to Uganda , Acharya Swamishree had brought with Him 18 sants, therefore a separate scripture recital was held in honour of each sant.

In conclusion to the scripture recitals, Acharya Swamishree blessed the entire congregation, in which He said;

  • Merely by recognising the Lord to be the creator and controller of the entire universe, salvation is attained. However, it is not easy to recognise Him. First, you must become pure and eliminate the vices within you. If your vision is blurred, you will not be able to distinguish objects clearly. Similarly, if your mind is marred by the internal obstacles of lust, arrogance, pride, greed etc. you will not be able to recognise the Lord. This is the hindrance that will obstruct your accession to the ultimate attainment.

  • You have to follow the path of a true sant and have trust in his teachings. The Lord’s commands must be implicitly obeyed.

  • There are two types of people in this world, dharmi (religious) and adharmi (irreligious) individuals. Those who abide by the religion will refrain from committing sins such as stealing, performing adultery, being malicious, etc. They will remain fearful of God and will behave in accordance with the limitations of the religion. Everyone, including their family and other individuals of the society, will trust them and will believe that everything they say is the precise truth. These religious people will have a liking to remain associated with true sants. Those who are irreligious will remain completely engrossed in performing all the evil deeds such as thieving, performing adultery, consuming wine and meat, defiling others and becoming dishonoured themselves, etc. No-one in the society will trust such people, not even their own relatives. Such irreligious people will never like to remain in the company of genuine sants. Furthermore, these irreligious people will become malicious towards anyone who associates with these sants.

  • Therefore, those who aspire for salvation must never follow the path of such irreligious people. They should follow the path of religious people and they should remain associated with genuine sants. There is no doubt that these people attain salvation.

  • By the grace of the merciful Lord, we all have been fortunate to attain the divine shelter of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi, where the true sants exist and the supreme Lord presides. This great fortune must never be forgotten, and its worth should be deliberated on, throughout each day of one’s life.
