On 31st October 2003 Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan held an extraordinary function in commemoration of Shree Muktajeevan Shatabdi. A new book, entitled Sardar Patel - Ek Sinh Purush (A Lion Man), which has been published by Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, was inaugurated during this event by His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree.
On 31st October 2003, the 128th birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan held an extraordinary function in commemoration of Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Shatabdi. A new book, entitled Sardar Patel - Ek 'Sinh Purush' (A Lion Man), which has been published by Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, was inaugurated during this event by His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree. This book describes the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and has been written by Dr Rizwan Kadri, leading lecturer at our Swaminarayan Arts College, with the blessings of Acharya Swamishree.
Dignitaries present on this occasion included Governor of Gujarat and Rajasthan Shree Kailashpati Mishra, the Executive Chairman of the Gujarat State Legal Services Authority Justice Shree J. N. Bhatt, Leader of the Gujarat Vidhyapith Dr Dave and former Leader of the Gujarat Vidyapith Shree Jitendrabhai Desai. On behalf of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansathan HDH Acharya Swamishree presented a prasad paag to Governor Shree Kailashpati Mishra in commendation of his social and charitable work for the States of Gujarat and Rajasthan.
The proceedings of this inauguration were held in the grand Upasana Room of the prestigious Gujarat Vidhyapith Buildings, Ahemdabad, India.
The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shree Narendra Modi sent a special message in which he commended Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan for the publication of this book. He was pleasantly surprised to see that a religious institution is embarking on projects such as this. He highly praised Acharya Swamishree for inspiring this publication.
Acharya Swamishree blessed the assembly, during which He highlighted some of the great virtues of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and instructed all to follow his path of morality, unity and justness.
Shree Kailashpati Mishra made a request to Acharaya Swamishree on behalf of the entire state of Gujarat, to have this book translated into Hindi and English, because the teachings of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel are an example to be followed by all.
One of India's great leaders, who helped in the creation of an independent India, was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He was regarded as India's 'Man of Steel'. He was a wealthy lawyer, but gave up his practice in order to fight for the freedom of India . He led thousands of farmers to oppose the British Government. As a consequence, the British had to accept defeat. For his leading role in this opposition, he was sent to prison. Mahatma Gandhiji conferred the title of Sardar, Chief Commander, upon Shree Vallabhbhai Patel, and he is now generally recognised by this name.
As the Deputy Prime Minister of free India, he instigated the merger of the hundreds of princely states with the Indian Union. Indeed, Shree Vallabhbhai Patel was one of the main architects of India as it exists today.
Shree Vallabhbhai Patel is considered a historical role model for all. He was honest in word and deed. He was a hero amongst heroes, and regarded as a lion amongst men. Shree Vallabhbhai was a Gujarati. Furthermore, he was a disciple of Lord Swaminarayan.
