Tuesday 12 April 2011 marked exactly 230 years since the supreme Purna Purushottam Lord Shree Swaminarayan assumed a human form and manifested upon the Earth for the welfare of mankind.

In celebration of this special day, a continuous, 24 hour long dhoon was performed at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Maninagar. Sants and disciples prayed and rejoiced all day in anticipation of the Lord’s arrival.

Just after 10 pm, the Lord was seated on a silver, ornate swing and Acharya Swamishree performed the manifestation aarti. Thaal was offered to the Lord, whilst the sants and disciples sang verses and chants, describing the glory of the supreme Lord Swaminarayan.

The prasad traditionally distributed on this day - panchajiri, made from five main ingredients (panch meaning five) – ground coriander seeds, dill seeds, jaggery, coconut and fennel seeds, all held together with ghee – was given to all the disciples.
