Listen to Acharya Swamishree's Aashirwad

The auspicious day of Gurupoonam was celebrated on Friday July 2nd 2004 in all the Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan Temples around the world. On this occasion, all disciples are granted the opportunity of offering poojan to Gurudev Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree.

The main celebrations were held at Shree Swaminarayan Temple Maninagar, in the divine presence of Acharya Swamishree. After performing the Sanghar aarti of the Lord in the Temple, Acharya Swamishree led the procession to the Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Auditorium where the celebrations were to be held. Jeevanpran Swamibapa was carried on a palanquin by His devoted sants, to the accompaniment of rejoicing sants and devotees. Acharya Swamishree, leading sants and devotees performed poojan to Jeevanpran Swamibapa’s divine lotus feet. Aarti was then performed.

The chief guest on this auspicious occasion was the Chief Justice of Ahmedabad, Shree Sharad D. Dave. On behalf of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, Acharya Swamishree honoured the work of Shree Dave, for upholding stability and morality within society. Acharya Swamishree blessed him and honoured him with a prasadi paag, a garland and presented him with a memento.

In the presence of the Chief Justice, a new English translation of the scripture, Shree Swaminarayan Gadi was inaugurated by Acharya Swamishree. This new scripture has been authored by none other than Acharya Swamishree Himself.

Acharya Swamishree is constantly providing the needy with the aid that they require. On this occasion, He honoured the courage of hundreds of deaf and dumb children by performing poojan to them all. On behalf of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, Acharya Swamishree and the Chief Justice donated clothing and other necessities to all the children. A charitable cheque was also presented to the Manharben Gajanan Dave Charitable Trust.

In His divine blessings, Acharya Swamishree spoke about the importance of a true Guru in one’s life. Only a true Guru can lead one to eternal salvation. In the Vachanamrut, Lord Shree Swaminarayan says that the darshan of such a great Sant is the same as the darshan of the supreme Lord Himself. The true Guru is therefore the merciful, almighty Lord. Such a great Guru, Jeevanpran Swamibapa, has been attained by us all. This is due to the immense grace of the Lord. Millions of lives live on this world. We are the fortunate ones who have attained the divine shelter of our beloved Gurudev, Jeevanpran Swamibapa.

At the conclusion of the celebrations, the entire congregation were given lamps and a communal aarti was performed. Mahaprasad was then distributed to all present.
