Fourth Day of the Mahotsav
Sunday 10 May 2009, Samvat 2065 Vaishak Vad 1
The fourth day of the festival commenced with the continuation of the Havan Ceremony performed as part of the Murti installation rituals. After Acharya Swamishree had commenced the fire sacrifice ceremony by placing ghee, grain, flowers etc. into the fire, disciples also took part in the rituals.
The concluding ceremony of the scripture recitals of Shree Jeevanpran Swamibapa ni Vato Part 2 was held, after which Acharya Swamishree blessed the assembly in which He said:
- Lord Swaminarayan and Bapashree came onto the Earth in order to save and protect souls from the pains of this world. If the glory of the Lord is appreciated, the enthusiasm in a disciple to please the Lord continues to increase day by day. When pleasing the Lord, the disciple may encounter physical difficulties, but none of this is noticed because the sole focus of the disciple is to please God; nothing else comes to mind.
- Laxmirambhai from Mandvi was a very learned scholar. His knowledge about the Swaminarayan philosophy and the Hindu scriptures was profound. He had appreciated the glory of Sants, so even at the age of sixty, he used to go for the darshan of the eminent Nand status Sants. Once, he went to Junagadh for Sadguru Shree Gunatitanand Swami’s darshan. During an assembly, Shree Gunatitanand Swami said, “Laxmirambhai, many people say that the Lord has gone, but He has not. He is giving darshan today in another form.” Laxmirambhai asked, “Where is He?” Sadguru Shree Gunatitanand Swami explained, “When the Lord was about to depart from this world, many disciples heard about the Lord’s illness and came for darshan. They prayed to the Lord for Him to visit Kutch as He had not visited them for a long time. The Lord told them that He would definitely honour their request and come to Kutch. A disciple called Ratnabhai asked which village the Lord would come. Lord Swaminarayan replied, ‘In your village’. That Ratnabhai was from the village of Vrushpur.” Hearing this, Laxmirambhai became extremely pleased and immediately headed back to Kutch. Laxmiram had deep respect for Sadguru Shree Nirgundasji Swami. So he sent a letter to Shree Nirgundasji Swami asking about Bapashree. Swami replied to the letter in which it was said, ‘If you are sleeping, sit up immediately; if you are sitting down, then stand up immediately; and if you are standing, immediately set off for Vrushpur and go for Bapashree’s darshan.’ In this manner, the eminent scholar, Laxmirambhai was introduced to Bapashree and became a devout disciple.
- Lord Swaminarayan appeared on this Earth again in the form of Jeevanpran Shree Abji Bapashree in this village of Vrushpur, and it is in this sacred village that we are celebrating the Golden Jubilee.
After the divine blessings, Acharya Swamishree presented disciples who had contributed to the festival with a momento.
During the afternoon, a spectacular procession was held throughout the main streets of Vrushpur. Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree presided on magnificent floats and chariots. The excitement and enthusiasm of disciples was evident to all. H H Swamibapa Pipe Band led the procession and was one of the main features of the procession. Disciples dressed as Bapashree and His followers and walked in the procession. How proud everyone was to shout, ‘We are the disciples of Bapashree!’ Such a wonderful procession had never before been held in the village. The glory of Jeevanpran Bapashree and Shree Swaminarayan Gadi reverberated throughout the village of Vrushpur.
