A mass, grand Mahapuja ceremony was held in the sacred village of Kheda, manifestation site of Gurudev Swamibapa, on Saturday 18 June 2016. Over 1300 disciples from all over the Gujarat region gathered at Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Farm, to take part in this special ceremony held as a facet of the Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Smruti Mandir Rajat Mahotsav, which will be taking place in September this year.

The Mahapooja ceremony is a special act of devotion and prayer, devised by the spiritual heir of Lord Shree Swaminarayan, Sadguru Shree Gopalanand Swamibapa. The Mahapooja ceremony was first performed and led by Shree Gopalanand Swamibapa immediately after the supreme Lord had withdrawn His human appearance. Through performing this devotion, Sadguru Shree Gopalanand Swamibapa alleviated the sorrow from the distressed Sants and disciples caused as a result of the Lord’s departure. Since then, this Mahapooja ceremony is performed during special festivals, scripture recitals, blessings and celebrations.

Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Farm has been recently purchased by Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan. This land was originally owned by the family generations of Gurudev Swamibapa. It was in Swamibapa’s name prior to him becoming a Sant and was then sold off to other villagers. However, it was Acharya Swamishree Maharaj’s wish that this sacred land should be re-bought. That wish came true last year, and the field is now being developed into a working farm. On this occasion, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj unveiled a plaque as the inauguration of the Farm. He also fed fodder to the cows being kept on the Farm.

It was wholly appropriate that the Mahapooja held in celebration of Swamibapa’s Memorial Mandir is held on the land that Swamibapa once farmed.

Acharya Swamishree Maharaj led the special prayers for world peace and prosperity, after which young disciples performed devotional dances. During his divine blessings, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj explained the importance of devotion and prayer in one’s life to progress towards God.
