Sants and disciples planted over 1200 trees, including fruit trees and flower bushes.
Exactly 51 years ago, our beloved Acharya Swamishree received initiation into the Sant fraternity from Gurudev Jeevanpran Swamibapa. In celebration of this occasion, the sants and disciples of Kutch held a special assembly in the village of Naranpur on Tuesday 26 March 2013, the day of Holi – the festival of colours. Poojan was performed to Acharya Swamishree to mark the anniversary.
The assembly was held in Ghanshyam Baag – a garden that is being created by Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan – in the outskirts of Naranpur.
During the special assembly, Acharya Swamishree said, ‘It is our duty as disciples of God to preserve the planet, and pay homage to Mother Earth. Planting trees is a way of performing devotion to God, and recognising the beautiful life forms that He has made. By planting trees, we will provide food and shelter for birds and other animals.’
Encouraged by Acharya Swamishree’s directives, disciples pledged to sponsor over 10,000 trees. Furthermore, Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan pledged to plant and nurture 1 crore (10 million) trees in the next 12 years.
Throughout the day, Sants and disciples planted over 4000 trees, including fruit trees and flower bushes.
