In preparation for diwali and new year festival, the vast grounds of Maninagar Mandir had been decorated with splendid rangoli patterns by Sants and disciples. The Mandir too had been illuminated with brightly coloured lights.
The festival of Diwali marks the end of the Hindu year. It is a time of celebration and also, a time for reflection; to think about how much of the previous year has been spent worshipping the Lord, and how much of His commandments have been obeyed. The New Year is the time to pray for forgiveness for all the misdemeanours of the past year and to start afresh. Disciples of the Lord spend this holiday period serving the Lord in numerous ways, and praying for forgiveness of past misdeeds and for spiritual strength and wisdom for the coming year so that he can please the Lord more and more.
In preparation for this festival, the vast grounds of Maninagar Mandir had been decorated with splendid rangoli patterns by Sants and disciples. The Mandir too had been illuminated with brightly coloured lights. It is expected that many thousands of people from all over the Ahmedabad region will come to experience the divine joy of the Lord at His eternal home, Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Maninagar.
Sants and disciples from all over Gujarat gathered in Maninagardham, to celebrate the festive season of Diwali and the New Year in the divine presence of Acharya Swamishree Maharaj.
On Wednesday 11 November, the Sadguru Din Commemorations of dhyan, scriptural recitals, singing of devotional songs, etc. were held in the Brahm Mahol. In accordance with the traditions of Diwali, the entire Mandir had been decorated with lamps and intricate rangoli designs. The Chopda Poojan ceremony was performed, during which businessmen brought their new year’s accounts books to be consecrated.
During the evening, the Sants held a firework display at which people from the entire vicinity of Maninagar were present.
Thursday 12 November 2015 marked the first day of Samvat 2072. Acharya Swamishree Maharaj bestowed New Year blessings to all the Sants and disciples. This was broadcast live to disciples living all around the world. A truly magnificent Annakut, an array of food dishes, was beautifully arranged before the supreme Lord presiding in Maninagar Mandir. Acharya Swamishree performed aarti and offered the thaal to the supreme Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa.
Having performed the annakut aarti in Maninagar Mandir, Acharya Swamishree travelled to all the other Mandirs in the Ahmedabad region to perform the annakut aarti to the Lord presiding there, and to give darshan and blessings to the disciples living in those vicinities.
