The spring season festival, Holi and Fuldolotsav, was celebrated on Monday 17 March 2013.
Holi is referred to as the Festival of Colours; the colour being representative of the beautiful spring blossoms that would be emerging on the trees at this time of year.
The Fuldolotsav festival is referred to as the Festival of Flowers; because the fragrant flowers would be blooming from then onwards.
This day, Falgun Sud 15, is also the when in Samvat 2018, Jeevanpran Swamibapa gave initiation into the sant fraternity (diksha) to Acharya Swamishree.
The main celebrations were held at Shree Swaminarayan Temple Madhapar, in the presence of Acharya Swamishree. Everyone gathered in the temple during the morning. After singing devotional songs, traditionally sung at this time of year, Acharya Swamishree sprayed Shree Harikrishna Maharaj with coloured water and powder. This consecrated colour showered over all the sants and disciples.
Later that morning, everyone gathered in the outskirts of the village. Acharya Swamishree bathed Shree Harikrishna Maharaj with the five nectars and then colour. This sacrosanct colour was then sprayed over the sants and disciples. This is symbolic of how we should replace our own worldly inclinations with the divinity of the Lord's colour.
Before departing from Kutch, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj visited the village of Varahi near Rapar. A new cattle sanctuary has been started in Varahi by a disciple and he requested Acharya Swamishree Maharaj to bless the cattle and the workers. Acharya Swamishree Maharaj also gave Prasad to the villagers who were present for the inauguration ceremony.
