By the divine mercy and blessings of Supreme Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and the inspiration of His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj land for a new Temple has been acquired in Kingsbury, London, NW9 8AQ.
The Temple purchased the McNicholas House site in Kingsbury from Skanska towards the end of 2008. The site is located at the junction of Townsend Lane and Kingsbury Road and covers an area of 1.84 acres.
The purpose of purchasing the site is to provide facilities for the popular community base activities currently being run from Golders Green SSSSM Temple located at the junction of Finchley Road and Helenslea Avenue.
The activities are attended by all age groups covering; education, culture, sports, arts, spiritual development, meditation and yoga. These activities are largely run by trained volunteers from the local community with specialist teachers and coaches drafted in as and when necessary.
The site is located at the edge of an industrial zone. In order to develop the site such that is can be used for community based activities a Project Design Development team has been assembled. The team has been tasked to deliver plans for the site taking into account the requirements of the activities, environmental impact (both long term and short term), and economic affordability.
Health and safety considerations have been paramount throughout the planning and construction phase. It can be seen from the Performance Beyond Compliance Certificate that the high standards set under the scheme’s code for safety and community involvement has been exceeded.
