This beautiful, intricately crafted marble Chhatri (literally translated as umbrella) containing the divine footprints of supreme Lord Shree Swaminarayan was inaugurated by Acharya Shree Purushottampriyadasji Swamishree Maharaj on Sunday 17th August 2014. (Grand Opening)
This Chhatri is the first of its kind outside of India. Beneath this monument are buried over 75 million prayers in the form of repeated writing of the ‘Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa’ mahamantra, handwritten by Sants and disciples, young and old, in the 12 months preceding the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury Grand Opening Festival.
A Chhatri is an Indian architectural feature. Such ornamental structures are often seen in Indian palaces and forts as decorative features or focal points, and are also used to mark the locations of historically significant events.
Built at the exact site where Lord Shree Swaminarayan gave darshan to Jeevanpran Bapashree’s mother Devuba, on the banks of Lake Krishna in Vrushpur, Kutch. A second chhatri was constructed here by Sadguru Shree Ishwarcharandasji Swami at the location of Jeevanpran Bapashree’s cremation site.

Acharya Shree Jitendriyapriyadasji Swamiji Maharaj is the current spiritual leader of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan. He is the heir to Acharya Shree Purushottampriyadasji Swamishree Maharaj, and sixth in the lineage of ascetic Acharyas, which descends directly from Lord Shree Swaminarayan.
