My Bapa 

When I was born You blessed me with my name 
When I was a toddler You blessed me with penda and barfi prasad 

When I got a bit older, You held my hand and I knew You would forever 
And I remember we would walk around mandir together 

Then I grew older, and once badly misbehaved 
Without another thought, You mercifully forgave 

You told me to forget the past because its gone, and then 
You never reminded me of that occasion ever again 

I was privileged to have performed in Your presence, 
And had Your divine darshan at mandir, jagans and even my residence 

Through the years You would still guide me 
And I would get married and have a family

When I had to make decisions which would define my future path, 
You were there for me, I still remember the conversation that we had 

You never spoke in this way before, it felt like a man to man discussion 
Although look back now it really was a Bapa to a son 

As time passed by I felt happy because my closeness to You grew 
But at one point I arrogantly thought I had understood You 

Then You did something which made me stop and suddenly realise 
That Your greatness is beyond comprehension and it opened up my eyes 

Whenever I was fortunate to have Your darshan
You would teach me to remember Bapa in every action

I am not worthy of the love You have always shown to me 
I will always do my best to be a good devotee 

I pray that You give me the strength, courage, and wisdom 
So that I continue to understand Your greatness further
And that I remain at the shelter of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi forever
