During a solar or lunar eclipse, My disciples must stop all
other activities, purify themselves and chant the mantra (Swaminarayan)
of the supreme Lord. ||86||

The Puran (scriptures) narrate the story behind the
conception of eclipses. At these times, it is said that the Sun or the
Moon deities are engulfed by the demon Rahu. The end of the eclipse marks
their escape. Disciples pray to the Lord at times of an eclipse, so that
the deities are saved from the menacing demon.
