The opening of the new Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Mumbai, in the affluent region of Mahalaxmi, was celebrated by disciples from all over the world. In addition, many of Mumbai's officials and businessmen also came for the darshan of Acharya Swamishree and to see the new Temple.

A grand procession was led from Chowpatty Beach to the Temple on Bhulabhai Desai Road , during which Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree gave darshan to the residents of Mumbai. The Mayor of Mumbai came for the start of the procession.

A devotional music concert was given by Bollywood's leading singers, including Mahendra Kapoor, Sadhna Sargam, Sonali Bajpayee, Alka Yagnik, Nitin Mukesh and Manhar Udhhas. The concert was directed by India 's film industry's music maestros Kalyanji Anandji.
